A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Allen Eugene "Gene" Wolfe, 88, of Pataskala, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10 A.M., Thursday, November 18, 2021, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant.  Inurnment will follow in Kirkersville Cemetery.

A longtime parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Gene died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 8, 2021.  He was born in New Lexington, Ohio on August 6, 1933, to the late Norman A. and Edna (Dennis) Wolfe.

Gene worked with the Bricklayers Union and was also a former employee of Brown Steel.  In his retirement, Gene took a job in the janitorial department of Southwest Licking School District where he became affectionately known to many as "Grandpa".

One of Gene's favorite pastimes was working in his yard, spending countless hours gardening and maintaining the lawn.  He also enjoyed cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years, Sue (Hammond) Wolfe; children, Bryan (DeeDee) Wolfe, Joanne (Jimmy) Smith, Marsha Wolfe, and Mark Wolfe; 5 grandchildren and their families; Anthony Hess; Kelly (James) Walker, and their daughters, Makenzie and Elise; Megan Wolfe (Nick), and their children, Coralline, Henry, Theodore and Amelia; Marae Wolfe (Edward), and their son, Arthur; Shawn (Susan) Patterson, and son, Ace; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Hess; and siblings, James (Bonnie) Wolfe, Marilyn Joanne Wolfe, and Mary Helen (Bill) Shields.
