Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Alexander Laskay III, 78, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 17, 2015 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

Alexander died at his home on Friday, March 13, 2015. He was born in Elyria, Ohio on June 2, 1936 to the late Alexander Jr. and Lillian Mae (Karkellie) Laskay.

Alexander served with the United States Air Force for 4 ½ years and worked for his Uncle George's sand and gravel business, Ohio Edison. He retired from the Newark Air Force Base in 1988 where he worked for 23 years.

Beginning in junior high school when he built his first radio, Alexander became a Ham Radio Operator which he did his until his death. He was also devoted to his special pets, Alpat and Shaggy.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Joann (Luzio) Laskay, of the home; his brothers, James J. (Mary) of Enon, and Robert (Carol) of The Villages, Florida; his mother-in-law Jean Elizabeth Luzio of Heath; sisters-in-law, Linda Luzio and Yolanda (Jay) Black; and several nieces and nephews .

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M., Monday, March 16, 2015 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Licking County Foundation Alexander and Patricia (Luzio) Laskay Scholarship Fund.
