Funeral services celebrating the life of Alan M. Brown, 75, of Newark, will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 1 P.M., Monday, October 20, 2025, with Rev. Cory Campbell as celebrant. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark, will follow with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Following interment, a luncheon will be offered at the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge, 607 McKinley Ave., Newark.
Al, a United States Air Force Veteran, died at his residence on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on April 28, 1950, to the late Max Brownstein and Alice (Coldiron) Cole.
A graduate of Leto High School, Tampa, Florida, Al earned an Associate's Degree at Columbus State Community College. He worked for many years as a computer programmer for AT&T - Bell Labs. In addition, he was dedicated to his community, serving as a Red Cross volunteer and mentor at Madison Elementary as part of their Host Program.
Al loved the outdoors and enjoyed the beauty of nature. Over the years he planted several thousand trees on his Muskingum County property. He also enjoyed playing tennis, table tennis, and chess.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lori (Sabrack) Brown; brothers-in-law, Ed Sabrack (Helen Wentz) and Paul (Cindy) Sabrack; and close nephew, Scott (Colleen) Sheaf and his children Samuel and Linnea Sheaf.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Sheaf.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home, 2-4 P.M. Sunday, October 19, 2025.
