A Funeral Mass for Agnes Louise Lemert, 97, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., April 16, 2018, with Rev. G. Michael Gribble and Deacon Mike Franks as celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
A 1938 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Agnes died at the Flint Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, April 12, 2018. She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 13, 1920 to the late Frank H. and Margaret E. (Welsh) Raftery.
Agnes worked for Owens Corning for a short period of time. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she volunteered with the Altar & Rosary Society, Ministry of Comfort, and was a member of the ARC Club. She also volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels.
She found great joy in reading, completing crossword puzzles, and having the opportunity to shout "BINGO" at the weekly games.
She is survived by her children, James (Roberta) Lemert of Maumee, Patricia Lemert of Newark, and Anne C. Springer (Alan Harrell) of Arizona; 3 grandchildren, James Robert (Stephanie) Lemert, Teresa Marie Jones, and Megan Renee Springer (Matt Chacey); 4 great-grandchildren, James Thomas Lemert, Emma Lemert, Ava Lemert, Ashlynn Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Lemert in 1994; and her siblings, Ben, Ray, Dorothy, and Josephine Raftery, Eileen Graves, and Catherine Smith.
Friends and family may call from 3-7 P.M., Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M..
