CATHERINE ROSE SCHORGER July 25, 1918 – August 29, 2007

A Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine R. Schorger, 89, of Newark will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Newark, 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 1, 2007 with Rev. Robert Penhallurick officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mrs. Schorger died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 29, 2007. She was born in Tiffin, Ohio on July 25, 1918 to the late Charles and Rose (Lehner) Zimmer.

Catherine was a Calvert High School graduate and Tiffin University School of Business graduate. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she attended daily Mass and was a member of ARC, Women of St. Francis, Comfort Team, Generations Folding Committee, and Adoration volunteer. Catherine also delivered Meals on Wheels for 24 years and was a transportation volunteer for Catholic Social Services.

Catherine greatly enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader. Most of all, Catherine was very devoted to her faith, and her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, of 65 years, Paul Schorger, of the home; her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sara Schorger of Newark, her daughters and sons-in-law, Twila and Gene Odendahl of Perrysburg, and Jean and Doug Brown of Johnstown; five grandchildren and their spouses, Donna and Patrick Forrester, Dean and Heather Odendahl, Ryan and Andrea Odendahl, Jill and Jeff Dheel, and Bryan John and Jessica Schorger; nine great-grandhildren, Lily, Morgan, Rachel, Spencer, Oliver, Katie, Hannah, Mercedes, and Joseph; her brother, Larry Zimmer of Huron, Ohio; her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Richard Gase of Tiffin; andmany nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Zimmer, and her sister, Dorothy Hess.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., Friday, August, 31, 2007 at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M.

The family requests that memorials be made to the St. Francis de Sales School Alumni Drive, 66 Granville Street, Newark.
